HUSHUS relies on Black Box systems
Intensive care for the smallest patientsThe Hospital for Children and Adolescents is an administrative unity, which operates in 12 different premises in different sides of Helsinki. Recently the Black Box PC-Extenders were delivered to the intensive care unit of the Department of Pediatrics at Stenbäckinkatu, for remote control of patient workstations. The department is responsible for the special health care of newborns and the tough diagnostics of e.g. nationally centralized illnesses in the whole Uusimaa county and partly in the rest of the HUSdistrict. A big part of the patients are premature infants - smallest weighing under 500 grams - needing specialized health care. There are 16 beds at the department, 11 for intensive care and 5 for intensive monitoring. Black Box manages their products![]() "The Black Box PC-Extender meets the high demands set for the device. According to our experience the PC-Extender is very easy to use, reliable, and functionally safe, because the clinical data system requires absolute operational reliability." Black Box PC-Extender device is being used in remote controlling of the patient workstations (pc). For example the three operational points (keyboard, monitor, mouse) all use only one patient workstation, which means that all the assistants participating in the operation have the same view on their monitor. If the situation during the operation requires a person to move nearby the operating table, away from his/hers own site, another assistant can take control of the patient workstation. With the PC-Extender they have accomplished the control of the patient information from the nurses' rest room and from the intensive care unit itself. This way continuous physical control of the patient workstations, which transmit critical information, has been secured. Essential reliabilityIn Finland as well as in 131 countries around the world the users have noticed that the Black Box systems redeem one's word. |
